    The Nashua Board of Education voted last night to approve Dr. Andrade's recommended operating budget for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, without any increases or decreases in expenditures.

    The total Board approved FY2025 budget stands at $131,061,021, excluding city-funded employee benefits, and is a 4.49% increase over last year's operating budget.

    The Board is sending the approved budget to the Nashua Board of Aldermen for review and final approval, which is expected before school ends in June.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Andrade will meet on Tuesday, May 21 with the Board of Aldermen budget committee to discuss NSD budget priorities.

    Four more NSD department directors gave an overview of their department's budget requests at the latest meeting of the budget committee of the Nashua Board of Education held last night at Nashua HS North.

    On Wednesday, Dr. Andrade presented his recommended operating budget of $131,061,021 for the 2024-2025 school year to the budget committee of the Nashua Board of Education. He is requesting a 4.49% increase over last year's budget. Please click here to review his presentation.

    In his presentation, Dr. Andrade highlighted budget priorities for the upcoming school year:

      • Tier I Systems: Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment
        • Science of Reading
        • Portrait of a Learner
      • ELL Services
      • Special Education Services
      • Real-World Learning Experiences

    Two presentations on curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and English language learners were presented that evening also.

    The Nashua Board of Education budget committee will initiate its budget development process on April 3, with Dr. Andrade presenting a recommended operating budget for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. 

    Here is a schedule of upcoming budget committee meetings. Each meeting starts at 6 pm in the boardroom at Nashua High School North:

    • Wednesday, April 3: overview of operating budget with major focus areas/priorities; also presentations about curriculum and ELL
    • Wednesday, April 10: presentations in the areas of special education, athletics, technology, and plant operations with recap of major focus areas/priorities
    • Wednesday, April 17: hearing for public comment on the proposed operating budget

    Mayor James Donchess issued budget guidelines last month for each division in the City of Nashua, including the Nashua School District. Please click here to read his memorandum, asking for all divisions to adhere to a 4% increase in operating budget requests.
