Superintendent Andrade

  • July 19, 2023

My initial year as your Superintendent has wrapped up, and I can’t think of a better place to be than here in Nashua. The strength of our community is the commitment to our students and their success in school, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and staff, families and students who make the Nashua School District the special place it is.

I continue to be impressed with how NSD provides students with academic and meaningful opportunities that instill lifelong habits of engagement and inquiry. As we look to the start of the new school year, educators at each level are taking important steps to continue to meet student academic needs.

    • Our elementary schools will be refocusing on how our students learn to read by emphasizing phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension each day.
    • With renovations complete at both Fairgrounds and Pennichuck middle schools, the focus of the comprehensive middle school project now centers on opening the new middle school in August 2024, completing the addition of more student-centric spaces especially designed for middle school student learning.
    • At the high school level, educators and stakeholders are developing a portrait of a graduate that will help us help students think about how best to apply their skills successfully to the next steps after earning a diploma. Included in that effort is an important emphasis on relevant experiences while in high school beyond the classroom to help students discover their own aptitudes and develop their own interests in thinking about career choices and how best to prepare for that career.

These initiatives and others are moving us forward in fulfilling NSD’s mission as a “gateway to opportunity” for each of our students. We are grateful for your support, and we look forward to a great school year.

    Thank you.

    Sincerely,

Mario Andrade, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
