The New Hampshire Student Assistance Program (SAP) is a school-based, evidence-informed program designed to reduce non-academic barriers to student success, including to prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug misuse among students. SAP services include classroom and school-wide initiatives that provide information and challenge social norms around potential substance use and mental health. In addition, individualized supports such as individual and group meetings, allow students to learn skills, make healthy decisions, and increase school success.
The SAP Coordinator provides comprehensive support and guidance to (insert school) students. They help them navigate school, personal, and social challenges. Their role is crucial in promoting student success, well-being, and a positive school environment.
The SAP Coordinator has several core duties which makes up their role: school-wide prevention and awareness activities, classroom-based prevention education, screening, individual and group support services, referral to school and community-based resources, including mental health and substance use treatment, and parent and school staff consultation.
