    The Nashua School District English language arts (ELA) and mathematics curricula, which were adopted in 2010, align with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). 

    With ELA, the curriculum focuses on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through an approach that includes both literature and informational texts. The CCSS shifts in ELA include a greater emphasis on complex texts, evidence-based writing, and academic vocabulary. 

    The mathematics curriculum emphasizes conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills. The CCSS shifts in math include focusing on fewer topics in greater depth, coherence across grade levels, and integrating mathematical practices. The New Hampshire Department of Education (NHED) has adopted the CCSS to ensure consistent and high-quality education across the state.

    The adoption of curricula aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) represents a significant advancement in science education. The NGSS emphasizes three crucial shifts: first, integrating three dimensions of learning - scientific practices, crosscutting concepts, and disciplinary core ideas - to foster a deeper understanding of scientific principles. Second, it promotes an inquiry-based approach, encouraging students to actively engage in the scientific process, think critically, and solve real-world problems. Finally, the NGSS emphasizes the application of science in everyday life, promoting scientific literacy and preparing students for future challenges. Recognizing the importance of these shifts, the NH Department of Education (NHED) has embraced the NGSS, becoming one of the states to adopt these standards. By implementing NGSS-aligned curricula, New Hampshire and Nashua aims to cultivate a generation of scientifically literate and innovative individuals, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in an ever-evolving world.
