Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

The Nashua School District is responsible for a lot of data in regards to both students and staff. In being repsonsible for this data, we understand and abide by the policies that are set to ensure the protection for data considered PII. PII stands for Personally Identfiable Information. Personally identifiable information is any information which can be used to distinguish or trace an individual's indentity either directly or indirectly. More specifically it is information which either by itself or in combination with other information may give away the identity of an individual. All of the following can be considered PII:
- Name
- Birthdate
- Address
- Social Security Number
- Grade Level
- etc.
All data which is considered PII and is stored within a student's educational record is protected by federal and state laws. And in the Nashua School District this is the data we are working to ensure the safety of for our students and staff.
